Lonnie Martin has written over a dozen scripts for both stage and screen in West Virginia, DC, Chicago and Toronto. His work has been recognized by some of Washington DC's finest actors, producers, authors, and arts advocates as well as film festivals in California and Pennsylvania. He has worked closely with several organizations including the Source Theater, Red Fox P Productions, Santa Fe Writer’s Project, More Than A Notch Productions, and the critically acclaimed Little Globe Theater with Scot McKenzie and Helen Hayes Award nominee Kate Eastwood Norris.

Ningen Manga Productions was officially launched in 1999 when Martin, along with acclaimed artist Leanne Buckley, developed and independently published Strangling Desdemona, a comic book based on Martin's screenplay of the same name.

Shortly after, Martin was invited to join the writing and development staff of the internationally recognized Santa Fe Writers Project. In 2001, he contributed essays on the comic book writing style as well as on the practicalities of the writing life. Strangling Desdemona  was selected as best screenplay in SFWP's 2000 awards program hosted by author Richard Currey.

In July of 2001, Martin's one-act play, Eight O' Clock Curfew, was produced as part of Wild for the Source Theatre Festival in Washington, DC. Directed by Randy Baker and Jenny McConnell of Rorschach Theatre, Wild  was awarded with a Best Ensemble Award. In November of that same year, Martin's short play, Nod, was part of DC-based Cherry Red Productions' Dingleberries. In addition, he was a production manager for Little Globe Theater’s Rough & Lively.

Martin soon began immersing himself in the DC film scene. As an actor, he appeared in two independent films: Sobering, directed by Robert Deege and Michael Turfler of Iris Films/Feedback Films and Jim McGivney's Cybersex? from More Than a Notch Productions. After taking time off to marry actress Cindy Marie Martin, he returned to screenplays, working as co-writer of Small Still Voice for director Stephanie Petagno and Red Fox P Productions which was selected as "Best of Baltimore" in the 2005 48 Hour Film Project.

In May of 2005, Lonnie Martin completed the short film, First Session, which he wrote, directed and co-produced. The film went on to garner positive reviews and was accepted as an official entry in both the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival as well as the West Chester Film Festival.

In 2006, Ningen Manga’s short film, Under the Bed, written and directed by Lonnie, received a "Best Sound Design" award during its participation in the 2006 48 Hour Film Project in Washington, DC.

Presently residing in northern Virginia with his wife, Cindy Marie Martin, Lonnie continues to write and make films, most recently penning the screenplay for the zombie sequel, Deadlands 2: The New World, to be produced by WetNWildRadio Films and director Gary Ugarek. Deadlands: The Rising will be released by Tempe Video in April of 2007, and features Lonnie and Cindy Marie Martin in supporting "zombie" roles.

Currently, Lonnie and Ningen Manga Productions are in pre-production on their first feature length film, a social horror film entitled Women’s Studies.

Cindy Marie Martin is the Co-Producer, Marketing Director, and CFO for Ningen Manga Productions.  She has been with the company since the fall of 2003 and Co-Produced First Session as well as Under the Bed and Women's Studies, the company's current feature film.  Cindy designs all press kits, flyers, marketing materials and campaigns for Ningen Manga Productions and keeps the company records and financial accounts.

A 2001 graduate of Concord College in Athens, WV, she holds a BA in Communication Arts with double emphasis in Theatre and Broadcasting and Journalism. 

Outside her work with Ningen Manga, Cindy is also an actor and has worked with various theatres including the Elkins Shakespeare Festival, The former Repertory Theatre of America, Venus Theatre, Landless Theatre, and INKwell in DC. 

She has also been in several short films in the area including Evenfall by Sapling Pictures, Toxic by A3 Productions, and Ten Minutes, which won Best Short Film and the Shrivastava award in the 2006 American University Visions Festival.  For Ningen Manga Productions, Cindy played Lois in First Session, Tina in Under the Bed and Mary in Women's Studies.

Cindy is also a voice over artist in the DC area and is a Freelance Marketing Design Consultant for local companies including The Santa Fe Writer's Project.  More information on Cindy can be found at www.CindyMarieMartin.com.
